Getting started
- Do I need an Apple Watch?
- Apple Watch is strongly recommended — it's what provides the biometric data (sleep stages, HRV, body temperature) that makes predictions possible. Without it, you can still log symptoms manually and track patterns, but the AI prediction engine requires at least some biometric data to work.
- How do I log a symptom?
- Tap the Log button on the dashboard. Choose the symptom type (hot flash, brain fog, fatigue, mood disturbance, and others), set the severity with the slider, then tap Save. The whole thing takes under 30 seconds.
- Do I need to create an account?
- No. Menopause Intelligence has no accounts, no sign-in, and no cloud server. Your data never leaves your device.
- When will predictions start?
- The AI prediction engine activates after 30 days of data — the point where it has enough signal to be genuinely useful. Before that, a rules-based indicator gives you early estimates, and the app shows a "building your baseline" progress tracker so you can see how close you are.
The Flare Day forecast
- What does green / amber / red mean?
- It's tomorrow's predicted symptom risk level. Green means a lower-than-usual risk day. Amber means elevated risk — worth planning around. Red means a high-risk day ahead. It's a probability, not a guarantee — the AI is shifting the odds in your favour, not predicting the future with certainty.
- How does the AI know what my patterns are?
- It learns from your own history. The AI looks at combinations of your biometric signals — sleep quality, HRV, body temperature, resting heart rate — and correlates them with how you felt the following day. Over time it builds a picture of the specific patterns that, in your body, tend to precede difficult days.
- The forecast was wrong. What happened?
- Predictions are probabilistic. A red forecast means higher risk — not that a difficult day is certain. The model improves as more data accumulates. If you're at or near the 30-day minimum, accuracy will increase over the next few weeks as the AI gets more to work with.
- Will predictions improve over time?
- Yes. The model retrains automatically once a week in the background. The more consistently you log symptoms when they occur, the sharper the predictions become. Most users see meaningful improvement between 30 and 90 days.
Biometrics and HealthKit
- What data does the app read from HealthKit?
- With your permission: basal body temperature, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep analysis (including sleep stages), step count, and active energy. You can review and revoke any of these permissions in the iPhone Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.
- My Apple Watch isn't syncing. What should I do?
- Make sure your Watch is paired and that Menopause Intelligence has HealthKit permission (Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Menopause Intelligence). HealthKit data can take a few minutes to sync after wearing your Watch. If problems persist, try force-quitting and reopening the app.
- Can I enter biometric data manually?
- Yes. If you don't have an Apple Watch, or for days when you weren't wearing it, you can enter basal body temperature manually from the app. Other biometrics require Apple Watch.
Subscription and pricing
- What's included in the free tier?
- Symptom logging and 7 days of history. The free tier lets you start building your data immediately — no paywall on day one.
- What does Premium include?
- The full AI prediction engine, personalised insights, unlimited history, the Apple Watch companion app, and CSV data export. $49.99/year or $5.99/month.
- How does the free trial work?
- Every new install gets a 14-day free trial of Premium. No credit card is required to start — you're not charged until the trial ends and you choose to continue.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone to cancel at any time.
- Can I get a refund?
- Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one.
Privacy and data
- Does the app send my health data anywhere?
- No. All data — symptoms, biometrics, your personal AI model — stays on your iPhone. There is no server. See the full privacy policy for details.
- Can I export my data?
- Yes — Premium subscribers can export their full symptom and biometric history as a CSV file from the Settings tab.
- What happens to my data if I delete the app?
- All locally stored data is deleted with the app. iCloud-synced data can be removed by going to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your iPhone.
Apple Watch companion
- What can I do from the Watch app?
- Check tomorrow's Flare Day forecast, log a symptom quickly, and see a summary of your recent biometrics — all from your wrist.
- The Watch app isn't showing data. What's wrong?
- Make sure the Watch app is installed (open the Watch app on your iPhone → My Watch → scroll to Menopause Intelligence → Install). The Watch reads data from the shared HealthKit store, so it requires the same permissions as the iPhone app.
