Getting started
- Which stacks does StackDrill support?
- Mnemonica and the Aronson stack are built in and ready to drill immediately. You can also add any custom stack of your own — enter the cards in your own order and StackDrill builds the drills around it.
- How do memory hooks work?
- Each deck position gets a Major System peg — a concrete image standing in for that number — and each card gets an image to help you picture it. These associations are a starting point: every one is editable, so you can swap in an image that sticks better for you.
- What are the drill modes?
- Card→Position, Position→Card, Neighbours, Sequence, ACAAN cuts, and a hands-free mode for practising without touching the screen.
- Do I need an internet connection?
- No. StackDrill runs entirely on your device.
Drilling and progress
- Why do the same cards keep coming up?
- StackDrill uses weighted selection: cards you get wrong are quietly resurfaced more often than cards you already know, so practice time goes where you need it. There's no setting to adjust — it happens automatically as you drill.
- Can I edit an association after I've started drilling?
- Yes, at any time. If a memory hook isn't working for you, replace it — your progress on that card isn't lost.
Purchases and pricing
- Is StackDrill a subscription?
- No — it's a one-time purchase of £4.99. Pay once, use it forever, no recurring charges.
- Can I get a refund?
- Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one.

- What devices does StackDrill run on?
- iPhone and iPad, running iOS 15.0 or later.
